Christmas Card

Spreading the Joy in a Card

Spreading the Joy in a Card

We are now fully into the holiday season with Halloween behind us and Thanksgiving just around the corner.  For many Americans it is a major component of their religious activity, whether it is Christmas, Hanukah or Quanza.   Regardless of what religion you celebrate or don’t I’m sure that you can agree that it’s the time of year most of us take the time to appreciate those that encompass our daily lives including family, friends and clients.  I would venture to say that most agree that a personalized Christmas or holiday card is a perfect way for you to show your loved ones you care.

There are several ways in which you can utilize the season to not only to provide a touch point with your friends and family but it can also become an important marketing tool for your company.

  1. Show You Care.

Doing a mailer like this shows you care.  Everyone loves getting personalized

  1. Database Check.

It forces you to update your database.   This may seem like a pesky task, especially for small businesses.  However, if you don’t know where your clients are even at how will you being to find them when you need it.  Furthermore, a robust and complete database can be a very useful tool you can use for all your sales, marketing and accounting needs.

  1. Self-Promotion.

It can showcase your recent business advancements or improvements.  This is a great way to tell your clients or even prospective clients about what your company is doing and what improvements it has made over the last year or so.

  1. Marketing to New Clients.

It can be used to market to that prospect you have long been seeking out.   This is an excellent way to provide a soft but direct touch point with these prospects without seeming like you are trying to solicit them.

Tips for a Powerful Card:

  1. Imagery Matters.

Color, vibrancy and picture clarity will help sell the card the right way.

  1. Know Your Audience.

Be careful of what message you are sending to and to whom.  Some may get offended if you call it a Christmas card if they are not Christian, while others may get offended if you call it “Holiday” and you know they are devout Christians and believe you are attempting to take Christ out of Christmas.

  1. Personalize It.

The more personal you can make the card the better.  If you can make your card more interactive and more personal the more likely it will be read and the response to it will greatly improve.   People love seeing their names.  I mean why not, it’s my name right? People tend to prefer to be addressed as a person rather than a number.  So make them feel special and personalize it.
